Plugging In Strategy

plugging inPlugging in is a fundamental SAT math strategy that every student needs to understand. If you are studying for the SAT, you will need to learn your strategies and tactics. I’ve created a video lesson explaining exactly how you can start plugging in.

Briefly, plugging in is a concept used to death in test preparation. It takes the assumption that variables are difficult and numbers are easy. If arithmetic (adding, subtracting…) is easy for you, then it makes sense to turn variables into numbers. There is a slight strategy necessary in order to actually do that well, but once you get it, it’s good. Pwn The SAT spends a good amount of time teaching plugging in, so I recommend purchasing his book. If you are stubborn and want to learn the “proper math”, you should purchase and learn Barron’s guide.

After the video, I’ll talk about online SAT prep and what you can do right now to start plugging in.

Plugging In

Further Prep

Plugging in is incredibly useful. Mike from Pwn The SAT has a great post talking about how common plugging in is on the Official Guide.

Doing well on the SAT is a long-term strategy. I have several math lessons throughout this blog.

Math is the most common SAT subject written about. I know that I am guilty of writing dozens of blog posts around math. That is because math is both the easiest subject to teach and the quickest subject to improve for most students. I know that sometimes you stress about SAT reading or writing. If you struggle with reading, you might want to check out The Critical Reader. This is a fantastic study guide that really will improve your SAT reading.

Beyond that, I implore you to work hard, study hard, ask questions, and succeed. I run an online SAT class in case you need further assistance. Don’t hesitate to click over and watch the videos.
